Pokémon GO Stardust Guide: Best Farming Methods in 2026

August 3, 2026 · David · 5 min read

Practical ways to earn Stardust in Pokémon GO, from Star Pieces and high-value catches to bulk 12 km eggs, Max Battles, Adventure Sync, and event windows.

Stardust is the real limiter for most players. Power-ups, second moves, and trades all burn through it, and it never arrives fast enough if you treat it as a side effect. These are the methods that actually move the needle when you use them deliberately.

Star Pieces add 50% to almost every Stardust source for 30 minutes. A gym berry goes from 30 to 45. A normal catch goes from 100 to 150. Save them for sessions you already plan to grind hard.

Open gifts every day

Gifts are low-effort and consistent. Full Pokémon storage guarantees 50 Stardust. Otherwise the amount varies and can reach 200. The same gifts also keep balls, berries, and potions flowing when stops are limited. Keep the friend list healthy so the supply does not dry up.

Battle Team GO Rocket

Grunts give 500 Stardust. Leaders give 1,000 plus a 12 km egg when you have an open slot. Giovanni gives 5,000 but only appears a couple of times per season, so treat him as a bonus. Clearing Rocket stops also pairs cleanly with routes.

Complete routes

Every finished route awards 1,000 Stardust. Ten routes in a day is another 10,000 with almost no extra work if you are already out spinning and battling.

Catch for volume and value

Base catch Stardust is 100. Weather-boosted is 125. First-evolution stage Pokémon give 300 and second-stage give 500 before other multipliers. A Star Piece multiplies all of those by 1.5.

A small group of species give far more on their own. Prioritize these whenever they appear:

Paras Meowth Shroomish Foongus Morelull Delibird

500 Stardust: Paras, Meowth, Shroomish, Foongus, Morelull, Delibird

Parasect Persian Breloom Amoonguss Shiinotic

700 Stardust: Parasect, Persian, Breloom, Amoonguss, Shiinotic

Combee Trubbish Staryu Sableye

750 Stardust: Combee, Alolan Meowth, Trubbish, Staryu, Sableye

Vespiquen Garbodor Starmie

950 Stardust: Vespiquen, Alolan Persian, Garbodor, Starmie

Shellder Chimecho

1,000 Stardust: Shellder, Chimecho

Cloyster

1,200 Stardust: Cloyster

Audino

2,100 Stardust: Audino (the clear top target)

Weather boost and a Star Piece stack on top of these numbers. An Audino nest under a Star Piece is worth camping. Any extras you do not need for the dex or PvP can be listed for trade or held for Friday lucky trades.

The bulk 12 km egg method

Clear every egg except 12 km ones. Battle Rocket Leaders whenever you have an open slot so the inventory fills with 12 km eggs. Aim for a full set of twelve. Walk them down together, then drop a Star Piece in the final minutes before they hatch. The method is strongest during reduced-distance events or Community Day parties where egg distance is cut in half or more. Twelve high-value hatches under one Star Piece is one of the densest windows outside Max Battle days.

Adventure Sync and weekly bonuses

Adventure Sync rewards land every Monday at 9 a.m. local time based on the previous seven days:

DistanceStardust
25 km500
50 km1,500
100 km2,000

Stack the claim with your 7-day catch streak (9,000 Stardust on the first catch of day seven), your spin streak, and a Research Breakthrough (2,000 Stardust). Pop a Star Piece and a Lucky Egg at the same moment for the biggest single weekly jump.

Max Battles

When five-star and six-star Max Battles are active they rank among the highest Stardust sources in the game. A five-star Max Battle starts at 15,000. Spending 200 Poké Coins doubles the rewards to 30,000; a Star Piece then brings the total to 45,000. A six-star Gigantamax battle starts at 25,000, doubles to 50,000 with coins, and reaches 75,000 with a Star Piece. During Max Battle days or weekends these numbers add up quickly if you keep moving between Power Spots.

PvP for players who already like it

If you enjoy GO Battle League, the Stardust is essentially free. End-of-season rewards scale with rank and can reach 250,000. Timed research during the season adds more Stardust and TMs for battles and wins. There is no reason to force PvP if you dislike it, but anyone already playing ranked matches should treat the dust as a major side benefit.

Stardust events

Community Days and Spotlight Hours with 3× or 4× catch Stardust are the times to leave the house. High-value species like Meowth or Audino become absurd under those multipliers. Save Star Pieces for these windows and for any nests that appear during them.

What to prioritize

  1. Never break the daily first-catch and 7-day streak. The 9,000 on day seven is too large to miss.
  2. Keep Star Pieces for bulk 12 km hatches, Max Battle sessions, and event catch windows.
  3. Hit Rocket Leaders every week for both the 1,000 Stardust and the 12 km eggs.
  4. Claim Adventure Sync and Research Breakthrough on Monday morning under a Star Piece when possible.
  5. During Max Battle or 3×/4× catch events, treat Stardust as the main goal and everything else as secondary.
  6. Trade or lucky-trade the extras so storage stays clear and you keep catching.
